    Technology Resource Assessment Profile

Most Information Technology (IT)-- whether LANs, Enterprises or, CANs or WANs-- have been built in an ongoing process of adding, modifying, and reallocating equipment and resources since the original deployment. Over that same period, experienced staff, technicians, engineers, and managers have changed positions, left organizations, and have been replaced. Many times these changes result in poorly documented and accounted resources. Information that is very easily lost (or not documented) are factors such as age, capability, and revision levels of routers, switches, and hubs—and sometimes even the physical location of resources. The revision and patch levels of operating systems for switches and even servers sometimes fall victim to problems due to poor documentation. Without a clear picture of all facets of the network system it becomes difficult to manage not only the technical aspects of the network, but also managing costs and scaling becomes a complicated task.

EIS has developed a solution to help solve this problem. With our Technology Resource Assessment Profile ® ( TRAP ) we provide the customer with a complete physical inventory of the network including: specifications, age of components, software patch revision levels, and mapping. We will examine environmental considerations and power maintenance. This allows for better network management, as well as cost containment and budget forecasting. We will also report any immediate or near-term problems that need to be addressed.
